Limited release on MUBI
After the role I applied to was filled, I was given the option to jump out of my comfort zone and take on a little bit of a challenge. Being technically my first role as a department lead, I was eager to get to work. Working with Tris and the producing team was an awesome time. Being responsible of a bunch of gear put into perspective what it must be like on larger productions. I was essentially the only person in the lighting department, getting a hand here and there from others when needed. It’s fun having the roles melt away and everyone be collaborating towards a single goal.
Most of the filming was in two days, we had to be quick on our feet, improvising much of the time. The two shots on the bottom were my absolute favorite; and acheiving them were two entirely different processes. The bedroom was a light box through a window that needed small adjustments here. The second shot required lighting through a windshield, covered in relfections of leaves. The shetup for that one took almost an hour.
